Epidemiology and Disease Pathology of Prediabetes and Metabolic Syndrome
Prediabetes is the occurrence of subclinical deficits in glucose metabolism. Patients with prediabetes have an increased risk for developing diabetes and related complications. Metabolic syndrome is the clustering of symptoms that places patients at risk for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, as well as increased mortality from either cardiovascular disease or all causes.
