In an incisive and thorough review, Dr Adamis summarized the experimental and clinical evidence that conclusively reveal vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) as the causative agent in proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR). VEGF is both required and sufficient to cause neovascularization of the cornea, iris, retina, and choroid.
